Howl-o-weenHowl-O-Ween Harvest Happening

Join The Living Desert and presenting sponsor, The H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation, for a full day of howling fun at the zoo! Learn how animals harvest food, burrow, and prepare for winter; meet local agricultural producers with samples of seasonal fruits and vegetables, cooking demonstrations and samples, corn shucking contest, Going Wild! Pumpkin Patch, children’s activities, a Howl-O-Ween Scavenger Hunt, entertainment and much more! Regular park admission: $12.50 for adults, $7.50 for children, members are free.

Jazz at The Living Desert
Two performances each date:
Early Concert 4:00 p.m.; Late Concert 6:15 p.m.

Hear the sounds of an authentic American art form by some of the West Coast’s top jazz musicians. Bring your own refreshments to this perennially popular series of concerts and enjoy world class jazz. All concerts feature five piece combos. Schedule of guest artists will vary subject to availability. Reserved indoor cabaret style table seating only. Table numbers are assigned; no drop-ins, please.  Performances are held indoors in the Education Center Building at The Living Desert. Sponsored by The H.N. and Frances C. Berger Foundation and the City of Indian Wells, The Living Desert will open the yuletide season with a festive light display, featuring more than 350,000 twinkling lights that illuminate the park after dark, turning the desert into a holiday winter wonderland. Back again this year is the Super Glide “iceless”skating rink, special visits from Santa Claus, live music, wood-burning fireplaces, hot apple cider, hot chocolate, s’mores and more! Full food service will also be available at Meerkat Café. WildLights will be held on Nov. 28-30, Dec. 5-7, Dec. 12-14, Dec. 19-23, Dec. 26-Jan. 4. WildLights admission is $7.75 for adults, $5.50 for children (ages 3-12), $6.00 for Living Desert members.

Earth Day Celebration

Held on-site at The Living Desert, visitors can get back to nature with lots of fun activities for the kids, live entertainment, an art show, plant giveaways, and of course, all the cool animals at the zoo! There will also be many vendors and exhibitors, who are carefully chosen not only for the products they sell, but for their expertise and knowledge about desert life, education, preservation, and conservation. Party for the Planet admission is $2.00 or free with a cell phone donation.

Fall and Spring Plant Sales
Nov. 22-23, 2008, 9:30am-4:30pm;
March 28-29, 2009, 9:30am-1:00pm.
Come join us during our Plant Sales for a fabulous selection of desert native and desert adapted plants.  The Living Desert’s Palo Verde Garden Center has long held a reputation for having one of the most complete selections of Southwest desert plants in the state.  We carry more specimen plants than ever before and have many “Hard-to-Find” rare, desert plants. We now offer delivery services.
